When does the Sprint Real Estate Market Really Start? Don’t Wait Too Long!

Most people presume that the spring market occurs when the flowers are in bloom and the backyard looks there finest. If this were true, the spring market would not peak until May and June. However; in the Toronto/York Region real estate industry we find that the spring market actually starts by the middle of February. This is likely the result of residents in the Greater Toronto Area feeling house bound and stir crazy as a result of being trapped indoors for the last two and a half months because of the winter weather. As soon as the slightest indication appears of a change in weather, people get out on the house hunt. Young families also find this to be the ideal time to get out searching because they are looking to have their deals close while their kids are out of school in July and August. This is a very important selling feature for young family purchasers as it provides their children the opportunity to finish the school year at one school and start fresh in their new school the next September. With an average closing time of a real estate deal being 60 to 90 days, many of these consumers are seriously looking and making their purchase decisions in March. If you are considering a move and are waiting for the active “Spring Market”, we recommend getting started on it now. Call us and we will guide you through the process of being totally prepared for the spring market. The Time is NOW!

Starting the new year, or moving to a new home- both are great times to set up new routines that will be good for you and for the planet too! These 5 simple tips can save you money as well. * Change your light bulbs to compact fluorescent ones. These are especially useful for outside lights that will be left on for long periods of time. They come in many sizes and shapes, and although they may seem more expensive when you purchase them, they last much longer and use 66% less energy. * If you are purchasing new appliances, be sure to purchase those with an ENERGY STAR LABEL. This sticker indicates that the appliance has energy saving features or exceeds federal standards for energy savings. * Start a compost pile! Yes, compose piles still work in winter because the energy the microorganisms create as they break down your compost keeps the pile warm. Your own table scraps will turn to high quality topsoil, and will really nourish your garden when you plant in spring. * Install a programmable thermostat that will help regulate your heating and cooling. You can set it so that the temperatures are perfect when your family is at home, and save on heating/cooling costs when no one is at home. * Get the whole family thinking " REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE". Explain to your children why you are composting. Reuse plastic milk bags- they make great sandwich or freezer bags. Use dryer balls that are not disposable instead of throw away dryer sheets. Each small step will save the environment, and save money as well.

TIPS ON CHOOSING THE RIGHT LIGHTING FIXTURE
Wednesday, 06 January 2010, 05:24:38 PM
Professionals have specific guidelines to help insure the lighting for the important areas of your home will provide the illumination that you need. Lighting in kitchens and bathrooms come at the top of the list. Every woman knows it is easy to put your make-up on in a hotel bathroom, because these rules are followed. Here are some tips that may help when it comes time to upgrade or update your home. * FOR THE BATHROOM: Each single vanity mirror needs at least a 24 inch fixture. Double vanities look best with fixtures that run their entire width. * FOR THE KITCHEN: A two light fluorescent fixture works well for kitchens 100 feet or less. Use a 4 light fixure for rooms up to 250 square feet. * FOR THE FOYER: Simply add its' length and width together to get the right size diameter for the light. For example, a 6 foot by 6 foot foyer should have a twelve inch diameter fixture. * FOR THE DINING ROOM: Follow the foyer tip to find the right diameter. Hang your fixture so that the bottom is at least thirty inches above the table. * FOR THE HALLWAY: One ceiling fixture every eight to ten feet provides just the right amount of illumination. Sconces should be six to eight feet apart.
